Hi, I just uploaded the version 0.2 of Croc as file croc2.zip.
Here are the changes, extracted from the enclosed readme:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes from V0.1 to V0.2
-----------------------------------------
o) The driver should be stable now and should work without
any major visual problems
o) Found the (stupid!) bugs in the texture stuff - now all textures should work
stable
o) Implemented Q-normalization (don't know if this is important)
o) Windowed mode now (almost) works, the main problem is Croc itself,
as it opens a vicious fullscreen window which hides everything.... -
I am working on this (to use this mode, though, we will need a way
to configure the DLL from outside (registry or ini-file))
o) All transparency-effects should work now! (e.g. the cages,...)
Chromakeying now works everywhere, as far as I tested it... -
interesting that Croc turns chromakeying almost always on... hope
this is no performance penalty on Rendition....
o) Implemented LfbWriteRegion(): now the static intro-screen on loading is
displayed properly...
o) Performance: nothing done yet... but I find the speed really playable, even
on my trusty old P133....
----------
I would really welcome if this driver is tested on as many machines
as possible. Almost nobody here seems to have Croc, though.... (why not,
it got high rankings in many game reviews...?! (see OGR for example))
I will mail Bjorn about possible distributions...
I for myself find the driver now stable enough to be distributed and
tested...
For security reasons, I included (tm)s into the readme file, and one
friendly bottom line for 3Dfx.....
And I am not (yet) very afraid of 3Dfx - they can't be that stupid to
sue us because of this tiny little slow program, can they? Or, am *I*
that stupid?
Even if they tried, I think this would gain MUCH interest and
momentum in the internet community - actually, it would be great
publicity for Rendition, I think....:-) Hey that could be fun...(shiver)...
Of course I don't want to bring Bjorn into any troubles....
Perhaps we could upload the thing to a totally free and unrelated
server? Any suggestions???
